An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ecologist to join a highly regarded environmental consultancy based in Cardiff. Renowned for its award-winning work in ecology, landscape architecture, and environmental planning, the company delivers a wide range of impactful projects across the UK.

This role is perfect for someone passionate about conserving the natural environment, skilled in ecological assessments, and enthusiastic about devising innovative mitigation strategies. You will play a key role in enhancing biodiversity and promoting sustainable development practices.~

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting field surveys in diverse landscapes with a focus on protected species and habitats.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRAs).

  • Designing and implementing mitigation strategies that integrate ecological needs with development goals.

  • Providing expert advice and ecological input to clients, planners, and other stakeholders.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.

  • Solid understanding of ecological principles, UK wildlife legislation, and best practices.

  • Experience in field survey techniques and ecological data analysis.

  • Membership or eligibility for membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

  • Protected species licences (e.g., bats, great crested newts) are highly desirable.

  • Full UK driving licence to support travel to fieldwork locations.
