The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for an experienced Neighbourhood Manager to join our Housing team on a temporary basis to provide absence cover.




?? What youll do:


As a Neighbourhood Manager, youll be the face of the housing service in your area. You'll:


Manage the day-to-day allocation and management of council homes.


Support new and existing tenants, ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities.


Tackle anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches with a proactive, supportive, and fair approach.


Lead community engagement activities and improvement projects.


Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to support tenants and improve neighbourhoods.


Line manage a Neighbourhood Assistant and two Sheltered Scheme Coordinators.


Oversee older peoples accommodation and support their wellbeing.


Conduct inspections, manage empty properties, and ensure legal and safety compliance.


Help deliver performance targets and ensure records, reports, and procedures are in line with council standards.





?? About you:


Were looking for someone with:


Experience in housing management or community engagement (minimum 2 years), ideally within social housing.


Strong leadership skills youll be managing staff and taking ownership of your patch.


Knowledge of relevant housing law and current housing policy.


A practical, people-first approach youll be dealing with everything from housing queries to legal enforcement.


Great communication able to liaise with tenants, partner organisations, and senior stakeholders.


IT literacy and the ability to maintain accurate records and performance reports.


A problem-solver with good judgment, able to act decisively under pressure.


A commitment to equality, safeguarding, and tenant involvement.




? Youll need:


HNC in Housing or equivalent qualification.


A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.


Flexibility to work across the Vale and occasionally outside core hours.


A positive, can-do attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
