Property Admin Support / ParalegalSalary: Up to £28,000 (depending on experience)
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented and proactive Admin Support / Paralegal to join a dynamic legal team in Cardiff. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day legal operations, including client onboarding, compliance processes, and post-completion procedures.
This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in legal administration or paralegal work, particularly in property or corporate transactions. You'll be supporting the file opening process, managing regulatory checks, and ensuring timely submission of registration documents to various governing bodies.
Key Responsibilities
File Opening & Client Onboarding
- Opening new client and matter files in line with internal procedures
- Carrying out Client Due Diligence (CDD) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks
- Verifying Source of Funds and Source of Wealth information
- Liaising with clients to gather necessary compliance documents and ID checks
Post-Completion Work
- Preparing and submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) or Land Transaction Tax (LTT) returns
- Submitting Land Registry applications and dealing with requisitions
- Registering charges, changes, and company information at Companies House
- Ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping throughout the post-completion process
- Updating internal systems and notifying relevant parties upon completion of registration
General Support
- Assisting fee earners with document preparation and administrative tasks
- Handling correspondence with clients, solicitors, and third parties as needed
- Managing digital and paper filing systems
- Supporting broader team objectives to ensure a smooth client journey
Requirements
Essential:
- Previous experience in a legal support or paralegal role (property or corporate preferred)
- Strong understanding of file opening, AML checks, and source of funds verification
- Experience with SDLT/LTT returns, Land Registry, and Companies House submissions
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
- Familiarity with conveyancing or commercial transaction processes
- Knowledge of digital AML platforms (e.g., SmartSearch, Thirdfort)
- Previous experience working in a regulated legal environment
