A fast-growing energy infrastructure organisation, helping reshape the UKs utilities sector, is looking for an additional Business Development Manager.

Specialising in delivering low-carbon and multi-utility solutions across the country, the business provides integrated services that span strategy, design, consultancy, procurement and project management. Their focus is on supporting industrial and commercial (I&C) markets to meet ambitious sustainability goals through advanced infrastructure solutions.

The Business Development Manager will play a central role in driving the growth of the Utility Services division. Operating at a national level and reporting to the Head of Utility Services, this is a client-facing, commercially focused role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

The successful BDM candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities across key I&C market segments.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape growth in a rapidly expanding area of the business, while collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners across the UK utility landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth: Implement and support the business development strategy across multiple market routes.
  • Client Acquisition: Proactively identify and engage potential clients in the electric, gas, water, and telecoms infrastructure sectors.
  • Market Intelligence: Analyse trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build lasting relationships with key industry players including landowners, developers, construction firms, utilities, and government entities.
  • Sales Leadership: Lead proposal creation, tender responses, and presentations, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company capabilities.
  • Contract Management: Manage contract negotiations with a focus on securing commercially beneficial agreements.
  • Event Representation: Represent the business at relevant trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • Pipeline Reporting: Maintain accurate records of opportunities, activities, and forecasts via CRM and regular internal reporting.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new clients.

What Theyre Looking For

  • Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a relevant field
  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the utility infrastructure sector
  • Strong industry profile and network within electric, gas, water or telecoms markets
  • Effective communicator with excellent presentation and proposal development skills
  • Track record of managing multiple service offerings and complex projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of digital marketing/SEO
