We are seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Officer to join our team in Cardiff. This role involves direct care and support for young people aged 11–17 within a children's home setting, ensuring their safety, welfare, and development in line with legislative and departmental guidelines.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Provide care and support under the guidance of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, ensuring the home adheres to its Statement of Purpose.
- Take responsibility for the home's operation in the absence of senior staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.
- Act as a key worker for specific children, implementing, monitoring, and recording their care plans.
- Participate in household duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and meal preparation.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and report generation, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with departmental policies.
- Support the educational and health needs of the children, including attending school meetings and promoting intellectual development.
- Manage and support other staff members, contributing to their training and professional development.
- Experience working with young people with diverse needs in a residential childcare setting.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Registration and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
- Ability to lead and manage in the absence of senior staff, ensuring the smooth running of the home.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with team members, young people, and external agencies.
- Competence in IT and management databases.
- Must be registered with Social Care Wales and hold a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle.
