We are seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Officer to join our team in Cardiff. This role involves direct care and support for young people aged 11–17 within a children's home setting, ensuring their safety, welfare, and development in line with legislative and departmental guidelines.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Provide care and support under the guidance of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, ensuring the home adheres to its Statement of Purpose.
  • Take responsibility for the home's operation in the absence of senior staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.
  • Act as a key worker for specific children, implementing, monitoring, and recording their care plans.
  • Participate in household duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and meal preparation.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and report generation, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with departmental policies.
  • Support the educational and health needs of the children, including attending school meetings and promoting intellectual development.
  • Manage and support other staff members, contributing to their training and professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with young people with diverse needs in a residential childcare setting.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Registration and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
  • Ability to lead and manage in the absence of senior staff, ensuring the smooth running of the home.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with team members, young people, and external agencies.
  • Competence in IT and management databases.
  • Must be registered with Social Care Wales and hold a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle.
