We are looking for an IT Administrator/Developer to join a small busy IT team based in Carlisle, Cumbria (must be local to Carlisle due to on-call requirement), reporting to the IT Manager.
Your duties will include supporting all service users throughout all branches of the business. You will also be responsible for helping with the day-to-day support and management of IT networks and hardware across Pioneer Foodservice, retail and hospitality sites. As part of the role, you will be required to provide out-of-hours support on a rota with other members of the IT team.
You will have good and effective communication skills as well as the ability to prioritise your workload are essential as well as good attention to detail. Have a driving license as some travel to other depots will be required as needed.
What will you be doing?Pro-actively monitor IT Systems and resolve any potential issues to help ensure minimum downtime.
Provide support to the other members of the team as required.
Install, configure, maintain and Update company Wi-Fi, laptops, servers, desktops, mobiles and printers.
Manage company backup procedures and storage.
Provide Out of Hours support on a rota with other members of the IT team and occasionally working out of hours to install/update systems.
Creating and updating documentation of systems and procedures.
Ensure company systems and software are up to date and vulnerabilities highlighted and resolved in a timely manner.
Liaise with our external support companies and the IT Manager when necessary to resolve issues.
Help maintain company websites, hosting and provide testing for new site updates.
Provide 1st and 2nd line support to service users and all company depots to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner (some travel to depots will be required).
On-boarding and off-boarding employees and performing office moves as required
Raise any relevant any issues to the IT Manager.
Ensure asset logs and support cases are kept up to date.
Creating ad-hoc reports as required for the business.
Provide help developing & testing in-house developments and systems.
Help maintain company websites
Provide support to other members of the IT team on projects.

Desirable experience or knowledge
Experience/knowledge of databases structures and querying (SQL)

Knowledge of Windows Server (2012 2019) and Windows OS (Windows 10/11)
Knowledge of Linux Environments
Knowledge of Virtual Technologies (VMware & Hyper-V)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office & O365
Knowledge Firewalls & Anti-Virus
Knowledge of LAN & WANs
Knowledge of Active Directory, GPO, DNS and RDS
Qualifications & Experience
IT related degree or qualification (Desirable)
Previous experience within IT Sector (Desirable)
Driving licence (Essential)
Progression & Performance will be monitored through regular one to one meetings with the IT Manager. Training will be provided in-house where required.
