About JJM NetworksJJM Networks is a dynamic Managed IT Services Provider based in Carlisle, Cumbria. Located just off Junction 42 of the M6, we support a diverse portfolio of businesses with services ranging from server infrastructure, networking, and cloud computing to cybersecurity and telecoms.

We pride ourselves on building strong relationships and delivering proactive, personal service. Clients are more than tickets in a system - we offer on-site support, strategic guidance, and technology that adds real value.

As our client base continues to expand, we’re looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to strengthen our team.

The RoleThis is a varied, hands-on role suited to an IT professional who enjoys solving problems, engaging with clients, and working across multiple technologies. You’ll handle a mix of service desk work and on-site support (approx. 2 days/week), delivering solutions that keep businesses running smoothly and securely.

You'll join a supportive team of three engineers and work directly with clients to implement, manage, and optimise IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive technical support via phone, remote access, and on-site visits

  • Manage helpdesk tickets using our Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) system

  • Install and configure servers, workstations, and networking equipment

  • Maintain Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365/Azure ecosystems

  • Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity solutions

  • Monitor systems and develop improvements to enhance performance and resilience

  • Liaise with clients to understand their IT needs and recommend solutions

  • Contribute to regular upgrade projects across infrastructure and cloud services

What We’re Looking For

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Previous experience in an IT support or infrastructure role

  • Proficiency with:

    • Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory

    • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Windows 10/11

    • Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)

    • Routers and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Draytek, Ubiquiti)

    • Backup systems and disaster recovery planning

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • Solid understanding of IT security principles

Desirable:

  • Microsoft or CompTIA certifications

  • Experience with RMM platforms and automation

  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g., PowerShell)

Essential Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal

  • High level of organisation and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively

  • Full UK driving licence (regular site visits required)

  • Professional presentation and customer-focused attitude
