This role involves working on a wide range of plant machinery, including dumpers, loading shovels, and excavators up to 60 tons. Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of plant machinery, including dumpers, loading shovels, and excavators up to 60 tons.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each task.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workshop operations and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role, with expertise in maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Relevant qualifications in plant maintenance or engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.

Day-to-Day

  • Inspect and assess plant machinery to identify maintenance or repair needs.
  • Carry out repairs and servicing tasks in the workshop, ensuring all work meets high-quality standards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
