ICT Infrastructure Engineer

ICT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Digital Innovation & ICT team at Cumberland Council. This role is essential for planning, developing, deploying, and supporting the council's ICT infrastructure systems and services.

About the Role

As an ICT Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for the operational readiness of systems encompassing voice, data, server, storage, and perimeter security. You'll work within the ICT team to provide the best experience for end-users.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a

    Technical Lead for a specific technology or group of technologies.

  • Designing and implementing complex IT projects with major impacts on corporate IT services.

  • Directing internal and external resources to achieve project goals.

  • Contributing to business continuity planning and testing.

  • Providing expert technical advice on major projects and procurement's to managers, colleagues, and users.

  • Proactively developing solutions to complex technical issues and maintaining systems through performance monitoring and planned upgrades.

  • Providing detailed monthly reports to senior management to ensure compliance with licensing agreements.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A qualification of NVQ4, HND+, a degree, or demonstrable relevant competence.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT servers, systems, and networks, including operating systems, admin tools, and network technologies.

  • Substantial experience in a relevant role or environment.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of how to effectively apply ICT within organisations.

  • A full understanding of advanced practical processes and procedures.

  • The ability to travel independently to sites across the county.

  • A full driver's license.

  • Experience with lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and at heights may be required periodically.
