Accounting Technician

We're currently working with a long-established, multi award-winning firm of Chartered Accountants, tax, and business advisors with offices across Cumbria and Lancashire. The firm is proud of its family-run ethos and has maintained strong leadership, with the same senior management team and partners at the helm for the past 25 years. They are supported by a loyal and high-performing team, making it a great place to build a long-term career.

They are now looking to appoint an Accounting Technician, either on a full-time or part-time basis, to support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is a varied role that would suit someone with strong bookkeeping experience and a keen eye for detail, ideally with experience using software such as Xero, QuickBooks or SAGE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recording financial transactions and managing accounts payable/receivable
  • Coding invoices appropriately for accounting software
  • Processing cash receipts and managing bank deposits
  • Maintaining petty cash and financial records
  • Preparing VAT returns, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets
  • Producing income and expenditure statements
  • Providing administrative and clerical support
  • Assisting with general office duties and ad hoc bookkeeping tasks as required

Ideal Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role within an accountancy firm or finance team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems is preferred
