We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work full-time with a Year 5 pupil in a supportive school environment in Carnforth. This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping the child access learning and develop their confidence.



About the Role

You will be working 1:1 with a Year 5 child who is currently going through an ADHD assessment. The child exhibits hyperactive behaviour and needs support to focus on work, stay engaged, and feel confident in their learning. The start date is yet to be confirmed, but the role is full-time and ongoing.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 child with emerging ADHD needs

  • Support the child to remain focused and engaged in learning activities

  • Implement strategies to support behaviour management and self-regulation

  • Help the child access the curriculum and complete work to the best of their ability

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver consistent support

  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the school team



What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children with ADHD, ASD, or other SEN needs

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies

  • Patient, calm, and consistent approach

  • Ability to motivate and encourage children to stay focused

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A reliable and professional attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
