Accountant

We are seeking a Financial Accountant/ Bookkeeper to oversee and manage our financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and effective management of company finances. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting, excellent IT skills, and experience in managing teams.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of management accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets monthly.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations monthly, ensuring all balances are complete, accurate, and any differences investigated.
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, including management of cash flow.
  • Handle month-end accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Monitor, process, and approve daily bank transactions and regularly reconcile all bank accounts.
  • Oversee sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Complete and file VAT returns, handle HMRC enquiries, and manage CIS submissions and statements.
  • Act as the primary contact for external accountants, providing necessary information and liaising with them to ensure timely filing of year-end accounts and statutory returns.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop one team member.
  • Run monthly payroll using Sage 50 Payroll and manage the auto-enrolment pension scheme, including direct uploads to the pension provider.
  • Process income, receipts, and expenses.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • AAT qualified.
  • Must have experience in CIS Tax Reporting and 3-way reconciliation.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Very good knowledge of all areas of accounting and cash flow management.
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts.
