Materials Engineer
Location: Castle Donington - Hybrid
Contract Type: Outside IR35 Contract
An innovative engineering organisation is seeking a Materials Engineer to support the development of advanced turbomachinery products. This is a contract role offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a dynamic, hybrid working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Select, characterise, test, and qualify materials to meet mechanical, thermal, and lifing requirements.
- Support product design with materials expertise and contribute to design studies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimise manufacturing techniques (e.g. heat treatment, coatings).
- Validate manufacturing methods and resolve material-related anomalies.
- Prepare technical reports and specifications for materials testing and inspection.
- Contribute to materials development for next-generation components.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in materials engineering within a relevant industry.
- Strong technical knowledge, ideally with turbomachinery experience.
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working outside the traditional scope of a materials engineer.
