You will be joining a fast-pace environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive.
Job Description
As a Sea & Air Freight Manager you will report in to the Freight Branch Director on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Castle Donington office in Leicestershire:
- Managing a small team of 10-12 sea / ocean and air freight forwarders - including their training, development and engagement.
- Overseeing the team responsible for preparing sea & air freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
- Overseeing the team responsible for Documents of Operations and transportation (booking, airway bills and loading confirmation)
- Strategic analysis surrounding the nominating carriers, airlines and GSA in-line with rates, OTIF value and customer requirements in line with a variety of INCOTerms.
- Customer rate analysis on route guidance, whilst monitoring and secure allocations and operation efficiency
- Develop and build relationships to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to clients with a knowledge of the clients business requirements
- Key Account Management of current and new account onboarding across a variety of trade lanes and customer industry.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in multi-modal freight forwarding (either road, air or sea freight). The ideal Sea & Air Freight Manager will have the following skills and experience:
- 4+ year's experience in freight forwarding in any mode of freight (ideally focused on sea and air freight)
- Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
- Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across road, air & sea freight.
- Desirable experience of customs compliance
- Excellent customer service and key accounts experience
- Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous
- Commutable to Castle Donington, Leciestershire on a hybrid basis
