Supply Chain Manager - Permanent
Location - Castle Donington
Salary - Negotiable dependant on experience
Hours - Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm

The Recruitment Group is working with a family-run business with over 20 years of experience supplying products to retailers nationally. They are a leading furniture importer/wholesaler in the UK that has grown to be one of the largest companies in the furniture sector. They have designed their services to help companies grow their product categories beyond their standard offering, with a worldwide manufacturing network. They pride themselves on being an efficient, dynamic company setting trends for others to follow.

Purpose of the Supply Chain Manager role:
Our client is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to be responsible for overseeing and optimising the end-to-end supply chain operations. This includes inventory management, procurement, logistics, and warehouse coordination. The role ensures stock availability, cost efficiency, and seamless supply chain operations while managing a small team.


Main duties and responsibilities of the Supply Chain Manager:

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support the Head of Supply Chain in setting KPIs and performance targets.
  • Drive process improvements and operational excellence across the department.
  • Oversee inventory control and stock accuracy, coordinating cycle counts and audits.
  • Monitor stock levels and place supplier orders based on forecasts.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including pricing, lead times, and service agreements.
  • Resolve supplier and logistics issues promptly to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Oversee inbound/outbound freight, optimizing routes and managing costs.
  • Ensure compliance with customs and import/export regulations.
  • Lead and develop the Supply Chain Executive and Stock Counter, setting clear goals and providing ongoing support.
  • Promote a high-performance team culture and continuous improvement, conducting performance reviews and identify development needs.
  • Report on key metrics including stock levels, supplier performance, and freight costs, maintaining accurate data in ERP and inventory systems.


Experience/knowledge requirements for the Supply Chain Manager:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supply chain, logistics, or inventory management role, preferably within the furniture or retail industry.
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience using ERP and WMS systems.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of inventory control, procurement, and logistics.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret supply chain data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and logistics providers.
  • Problem-solving ability to handle supply chain disruptions effectively.
