Justteachers are working with schools in the Castleford area to recruit dedicated Behaviour Support Workers. This role is essential in providing tailored support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and fostering positive attitudes towards education. The position is open to both part time and full time candidates looking to peruse a role immediately.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with individual pupils or small groups to support their behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and resilience in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide de-escalation support and manage challenging behaviour effectively and calmly.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to encourage self-confidence and positive social interactions.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive support plan for each child.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Experience working with children with behavioural or emotional challenges, preferably in a school setting.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with pupils and staff.
  • Knowledge of strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • A valid right to work in the UK (this is a mandatory requirement).
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.
  • This role complies with AWR (2010) regulations protecting agency workers rights.
