Our client is a specialist precision manufacturer supplying into all the core engineering industries such as Defence, Oil & Gas, Transport and bespoke solutions. They are in need of a Machine Shop Supervisor (CNC Supervisor) to join and lead an engineering team of circa 10 CNC Millers. This role will be perfect for someone who’s had experience of leading small machining cells of a few people and are now looking to step up again. Although this is a Supervisor role, the ideal candidate will be someone who’s willing to get on the tools and support where needed.

Machine Shop Supervisor

Ideal candidate background will be:

  • Previous experience leading by example and help set up CNC Milling machinery for operators.
  • Demonstrable supervisory or people management experience
  • Experience undertaking appraisals and performance management procedures.
  • Experience of working within an Engineering Workshop
  • Experience of and ability to read Engineering Drawings
  • Experience of machine shop
  • A background in Manufacturing Engineering

Machine Shop Supervisor

Key responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Establish and achieve team KPIs.
  • Establish and agree on objectives for individuals and the team, tracking performance accordingly.
  • Conduct appraisals, provide regular and constructive feedback and address performance and conduct issues promptly and constructively.
  • Identify and promote training and development opportunities.
  • Manage sickness and annual leave in line with company policy.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling and milling, etc.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings to determine machine setup and specifications.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
