We are seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join our vibrant school in Chatham, Medway for terms 5 and 6. This role is ideal for a resilient and outgoing practitioner who has a deep understanding of continuous provisions and the ability to support children with adverse childhood experiences. The successful candidate will be a stable presence in the classroom, providing consistent support and guidance to our young learners.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and educational lessons appropriate for Year 1 students.
  • Implement continuous provision methods that allow children to explore, develop, and learn in a supportive environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Assess and record students’ progress, preparing reports and communicating with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s development.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff to enhance teaching practices and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Provide a stable and supportive presence, particularly for children who have experienced adversity, helping them to achieve their educational and personal development goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a primary school teacher, with specific experience in Year 1 preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the educational needs of young children and effective classroom management strategies.
  • Knowledgeable about continuous provision and its implementation in the classroom.
  • Resilient and adaptable, able to handle challenges and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A compassionate and outgoing individual who is committed to the welfare and development of young children.
