SEN Teaching Assistants

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a range of supportive and inclusive schools across Medway. With flexible roles available, day-to-day, long-term, part-time or full-time, you can find a position that suits your availability and career goals.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs. You'll provide one-to-one or small group support, helping to create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs, adapting learning activities to suit individual needs
- Assisting with classroom behaviour management, using strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement EHCPs and tailored support plans
- Encouraging and motivating pupils to build confidence, independence, and self-esteem
- Supporting pupils with personal care needs where required (in some settings)
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- Interest or understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs
- Knowledge of or interest in behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques
- Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils
- Up-to-date safeguarding training or willing to complete it
