Are you a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of UK accounting standards and a passion for driving business performance? We’re looking for a Finance Manager to join the senior management team for our client in Stockport.

This is a hands-on, on-site role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic SME environment and is ready to take ownership of financial operations while contributing to broader business functions including HR, payroll, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Oversee daily bookkeeping and accounting operations (AP, AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations, VAT).
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with UK statutory laws and accounting regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and support the audit process.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver insightful financial reports and KPI analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide financial modelling and forecasting to guide business growth.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support training and development initiatives within the department.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Drive efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.

Operations & HR

  • Collaborate with the senior management team on day-to-day operational decisions.
  • Support HR and payroll functions as needed to ensure smooth business operations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant nearing qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a similar finance leadership role in the UK, in an SME.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
