Payroll Manager
Location: Office-based, Cheadle

Were looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of client payroll implementations, support ongoing operations, and train teams both in the UK and India. Youll manage a live client portfolio, collaborate across departments, and help shape the way we deliver payroll services through our platform.

This role is hands-on, people-focused, and delivery-drivenperfect for someone who thrives on process improvement, client interaction, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Onboarding & Project Management:
    Oversee end-to-end onboarding of new clientsfrom contract signature to go-live. Ensure timelines, deliverables, and client expectations are met, and lead internal and offshore teams throughout the process.

  • Service Delivery:
    Manage a portfolio of active clients with support from our India-based back office. Ensure best practices, service consistency, and high client satisfaction.

  • Team Training:
    Deliver training to internal UK and Indian teams, maintain documentation, and support knowledge transfer.

  • Client Relationships:
    Build rapport with clients, address inquiries, and offer payroll expertise. Travel occasionally to deliver in-person support and strengthen relationships.

  • Product Improvement:
    Liaise with the software development team to relay client feedback and contribute to enhancements in the My Digital platform.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum GCSE Maths Grade B (or equivalent)

  • At least 3 years experience as a payroll manager in a bureau setting, with change management exposure

  • CIPP qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)

  • Strong understanding of UK payroll and tax for the temporary workforce; accounting knowledge a plus

  • Proficient in payroll software (experience with specialist tools is highly desirable)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to client and software evolution
