We’re recruiting for an experienced and detail-driven Payroll Officer on a temporary-to-permanent basis to oversee and manage all aspects of payroll and pensions for a dynamic, multi-site organisation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing with full ownership of new starters, changes, leavers, and compliance.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy and legal compliance with all payroll records and internal audits.
  • Lead on complex pay structures including overtime, bonuses, allowances, and commission.
  • Calculate and record statutory payments (sickness, maternity, paternity) and manage holiday pay weekly.
  • Ensure all HMRC and statutory reporting is accurate and timely, including RTI submissions, P11D processing, and year-end tasks.
  • Support and train Site Office Managers on local payroll responsibilities.
  • Liaise with third parties on deductions (e.g. AOE, union, child support, benefits).
  • Reconcile payroll to finance ledgers and ensure accuracy of costings.
  • Take ownership of pension administration: auto-enrolment, deductions, amendments, and liaising with providers.
  • Respond efficiently to payroll queries and continuously improve payrollprocesses for a better employee experience.

The successful candidate will possess solid experience managing payroll end-to-end in a multi-site or medium-to-large organisation. You will have a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and pension schemes. A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and good communication skills are essential.
