Job Title: Production / Factory Manager

Location: Cheddar, Somerset

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Salary: Up to 45,000 PA DOE

As a Production Manager, you will oversee:

Operations & Production

  • Oversee production, bottling, colourant, packing, and dispatch areas.
  • Manage production schedules, batch sheets, and stock levels.
  • Ensure efficient order processing and timely dispatch.

Stock & Supply Chain

  • Control raw material and finished goods inventory.
  • Set and maintain reorder levels; conduct annual stock checks.
  • Work with ERP systems (e.g.Sage 50) for BOM, stock, and purchase orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and couriers for pricing and service.

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain quality standards for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental legislation.
  • Manage waste and recycling processes.

Maintenance & Premises

  • Oversee repairs, servicing, and maintenance of equipment and building.
  • Ensure premises are safe, secure, and operational.

HR & Staff Management

  • Manage attendance, holidays, and sickness.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and wage reviews.
  • Support mental health awareness and disciplinary processes.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain production and bottling records.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for raw materials.
  • Monitor and adjust minimum order quantities.

Additional Duties

  • Fire safety management (drills, equipment checks).
  • Forklift compliance (LOLER checks, servicing).
  • Customer collaboration for product specifications.
  • Cross-department communication with Accounts, Marketing, Sales, and MD.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Sage 50
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Background in supply chain management
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and couriers
