We are delighted to be supporting a respected organisation based in Chelmsford in their search for an Interim Financial Controller. This is a 3–6 month temporary assignment offering an excellent opportunity to make a real impact during a crucial period of financial planning and performance review.

Responsibilities:

As a Financial Controller, you will…

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring accurate financial reporting and smooth daily operations.

  • Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports.

  • Ensure full compliance with financial regulations and applicable accounting standards.

  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making and growth.

  • Oversee cash flow management, financial planning, and forecasting.

  • Implement and strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and systems.

  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and stakeholders.

  • Partner with senior leadership to drive strategic and operational initiatives.

Requirements:

As a Financial Controller, you will need…

  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller role, ideally within an SME setting.

  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) is preferred.
