Job Title: HGV Driver
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Remuneration: 32,000 - 38,000 per annum
Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the loading of your LGV Hiab Offload vehicle to ensure products are safely secured and protected.
- Collaborate with the Transport Manager and Loading Person to verify loads match customer orders.
- Drive safely and legally, adhering to tachograph laws and driver hour limits.
- Execute multi-drop deliveries efficiently and safely, ensuring top-notch customer service.
- Respect customer properties and consult with them or the Transport Manager if unsure about delivery safety.
- Operate the crane (if applicable) safely to offload goods, or manually offload as necessary.
- Check off goods with customers, securing digital proof of delivery including signatures and photos.
- Document any errors and communicate with the Transport Office as needed.
- Handle customer payments and follow end-of-day cashbox procedures as instructed.
- Maintain the vehicle's cleanliness and minimise unnecessary damage.
- Complete vehicle inspection sheets and report any accidents promptly.
- Support day-to-day operations with general warehouse and yard duties as required.
- Flexibly work across the business during quieter delivery periods.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
- LGV Class 2 licence (preferably clear of points).
- HIAB Certified.
- Current CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience in multi-drop deliveries and knowledge of building materials.
- Strong communication and listening skills, adaptable to various customers.
- A team player who is proactive, enthusiastic, and resilient.
