Junior CAD Technician - Mechanical Building Services

Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Junior CAD Technician to support our busy Mechanical Design Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience working on a variety of mechanical projects, with career growth, training, and development available.

This hybrid role will involve working from our Chelmsford office at least three days a week, with the option to work from home the remaining two days.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed mechanical drawings and layouts from specifications and sketches.
  • Create 2D and 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with requirements.
  • Upload documentation and drawings to our project management systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and produce mechanical record drawings.
  • Review and verify drawing compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical project documentation.

What We're Looking For;

  • Previous experience as a CAD Technician in a mechanical engineering, fabrication, or machining environment.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a hands-on approach.
