Lead Estimating Engineer – The Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Estimating Engineer to lead the costing and tendering process for complex electrical infrastructure projects. You’ll play a crucial role in securing new work and supporting the delivery of projects that drive the UK’s energy transition.
Lead Estimating Engineer - Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full tender process from enquiry through to submission
- Liaise with clients to define scope and understand requirements
- Produce detailed, commercially viable cost estimates
- Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Support projects including renewable energy, grid connections, battery storage, and utility-scale upgrades
- Attend site visits and meetings as required to assess project requirements
Lead Estimating Engineer – You:
- Strong background in high-voltage or electrical infrastructure (DNOs, substations, ICP works, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience delivering tenders and bids within power engineering
- Good commercial understanding of either distribution or transmission networks
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects
- Flexibility to travel within the UK (occasional overnight stays)
- Full UK driving licence
