Damp & Mould Inspector

We are supporting a local housing provider to recruit an experienced Damp & Mould Inspector on a temporary basis within their Property, Asset Management & Development function.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and meet legislative requirements, including Awaab's Law.



Role Purpose


To carry out detailed property inspections, diagnose damp and mould issues, and oversee remedial works to ensure compliance with housing legislation, health & safety standards, and quality expectations.



Key Responsibilities


  • Undertake technical property surveys across the housing stock (including leasehold properties) to accurately diagnose damp, mould, and complex repair issues

  • Specify appropriate remedial works, materials, and trades, placing works with suitable contractors

  • Manage repair projects and programmes, including longer-term solutions where required

  • Complete 100% post-inspection checks on completed works, ensuring quality and compliance standards are met

  • Identify and arrange rectification of any sub-standard works completed by contractors

  • Investigate overcharging and arrange refunds or credit notes where necessary

  • Ensure all works comply with current legislation, health & safety requirements, and best practice


Experience & Skills Required


  • Proven experience within the building maintenance or housing sector, including inspection of domestic properties

  • Strong working knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and Awaab's Law

  • In-depth understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and HHSRS

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills

  • Ability to manage high volumes of inspections and meet tight deadlines under pressure

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant systems

  • Experience building effective working relationships with contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders
