Our local authority client is seeking a Payroll & People Advisor to deliver high-quality, customer-focused payroll and transactional HR services. You’ll play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, resolving queries, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with tax, NI, pension, and statutory absence regulations.

  • Compile contracts of employment and resolve payroll queries efficiently.

  • Perform user acceptance testing on systems and support system improvements.

  • Maintain accurate data entry and reporting aligned with internal standards and external legislation.

  • Support employees with self-service tools and provide clear, effective guidance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of HMRC statutory absence legislation, tax, NI, and pensions.

  • Experience using payroll systems in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex payroll issues.

  • Ongoing CPD in a relevant field; CIPP qualification (or working towards) desirable.
