An exciting opportunity for a fixed term contract until September 2026 has arisen for a capable and collaborative HR Officer to join a dynamic HR team within a large and diverse regional organisation, working across East London and Essex.  This opportunity can be worked on a full time or part time basis of a minimum 25 hours per week and the client offers great flexibility.This role is partially funded through a national strategic initiative and offers the chance to support local teams and projects that are growing and developing. You’ll play a vital role in helping local groups recruit and manage staff effectively, offering practical HR advice and guidance in line with employment legislation and best practice.The RoleReporting to the HR Manager, you’ll be the first point of contact for a variety of stakeholders needing HR support. This includes general HR queries as well as more focused support for recruitment under nationally funded projects. You’ll ensure all advice provided is consistent with employment law and current HR standards.In addition, you will contribute to the day-to-day running of the HR department by assisting with internal recruitment processes, staff wellbeing, absence management, and broader employee relations. This is a hands-on, people-focused role requiring strong collaboration across teams, including programme managers, payroll, IT, and communications.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and accurate first-line HR advice and support on recruitment, selection, employee relations, and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with programme leads to assess HR needs and ensure appropriate support is in place for upcoming roles.
  • Assist with a variety of HR processes across the organisation, including inductions, leave, sickness absence, and general employee queries.
  • Escalate complex matters to senior HR colleagues, ensuring risk is managed and solutions are consistent with policy.
  • Support internal HR projects and initiatives, helping to improve processes and deliver effective service.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure data protection, safeguarding, and health and safety practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively across the team, supporting colleagues and stakeholders as needed.
About YouYou’ll bring either a Level 3 HR qualification (or be working towards one), or equivalent experience in a people-focused HR role. You should have up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR practice, ideally gained in a small to mid-sized organisation.You’ll be confident offering first-line advice, with a practical understanding of recruitment, employee relations, and policy implementation.
