Electrical Engineering Manager - Essex

Salary: c.75,000 (DOE) + Bonus + Blue-Chip Benefits

Location: Essex

Commutable Locations: Tilbury, Grays, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Dartford, Chelmsford, Maidstone, Medway, and surrounding areas.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to join a high-performing, well-established engineering function within a leading UK manufacturer.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on ensuring electrical systems, infrastructure, and processes are compliant, reliable, and future-ready.

You will take the lead in electrical maintenance strategy, drive CAPEX improvements, and provide technical oversight for site-wide electrical engineering projects. This position offers the chance to shape long-term electrical standards and mentor a skilled team of engineers and electricians in a modern, well-invested manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical engineering and maintenance team to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant systems across the site.
  • Develop and execute the electrical maintenance strategy, ensuring compliance with statutory and company standards.
  • Oversee CAPEX and improvement projects, delivering on time and within budget while maintaining electrical safety integrity.
  • Implement robust root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability initiatives to reduce downtime and enhance performance.
  • Standardise electrical design and installation practices across the site.
  • Collaborate with automation and mechanical teams to optimise plant performance and support future upgrades.
  • Lead and mentor electricians and engineers, developing technical competence and safety culture.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: BEng/MEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, plus 18th Edition (BS7671) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience: Demonstrable leadership experience managing electrical systems and teams within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment (cement, aggregates, glass, steel, or FMCG).
  • Strong technical competence in Siemens S5/S7 PLCs, Allen Bradley, Profinet, and HV switching (authorised person advantageous).
  • Proven track record managing CAPEX and electrical improvement projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and leadership skills - able to balance operational urgency with strategic focus.
