About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, confident, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team in Westcliff-on-Sea, supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). The successful candidate will supervise whole classes during the absence of teachers, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-prepared learning and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a career in teaching, education, or youth support.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students stay on task with pre-set work.Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.Provide clear instructions and guidance to students to complete work to the best of their ability.Support the learning of individuals and groups where required.Assist with the organisation of the classroom and resources.Record and report on student attendance, behaviour, and progress as directed.Contribute to the wider life of the school as required.
Essential:
Good standard of education (GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent).Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.Confidence to deliver instructions and supervise groups of young people.Organised, adaptable, and able to use initiative.
