Senior Hire Controller

£27,900 – £30,000 per annum + Bonuses
Are you an experienced Hire Controller with a passion for sales and delivering outstanding customer service?
A leading independent hire business is seeking a proactive and driven Senior Hire Controller to join their growing team at the depot. This role involves managing incoming hire enquiries, driving revenue through upselling, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle incoming customer calls and convert enquiries into sales.
- Maximise opportunities through upselling and cross-selling.
- Follow up on quotes and manage customer objections effectively.
- Provide accurate product and service information to customers.
- Ensure complaints are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Support the trade counter team when required.
- Work closely with and support the development of a junior Hire Controller.
Requirements:
- Experience in a Hire Controller, Customer Service, or Sales role (plant/tool hire background preferred).
- Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, resilient, and confident with a “can do” attitude.
- Ability to build strong rapport with customers and close sales.
- Organised and capable of processing accurate customer information.
- A background in construction or tool/plant hire is advantageous – full training provided.

Full-time, permanent position – Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm (no weekends or bank holidays)
