Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a leading and growing SME that are looking to recruit a full-time or part-time Management Accountant to join their finance team-based outskirts of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. A varied and hands-on role within an interesting sector, taking ownership of the accounting processes for various businesses within the Group. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller and ensure the company's financial data is accurate, along with cash flow management, reporting on company performance, month-end/year-end processes, process improvement, and ad-hoc projects as the business develops further. This position is open to full-time finance professionals but would also consider 4 days per week (30 hours). Finance professionals who are qualified by experience, part-qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA will be considered.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve preparation of month-end management accounts, variance analysis, quarterly VAT returns along with preparation up to trial balance for statutory accounts. You will forecast of company cash flows, assist in the external audit, business partner with operational management, along with reporting financial results to the Senior Management. You will manage the accounts payable processes, supporting and be hands-on when needed with transactional processes, bank reconciliations, manage supplier payments and be the financial point of contact for the business units that fall under your remit, resolving any financial queries. You will be involved in process improvement projects to support the Financial Controller as the business grows further.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on & varied Management Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position. Part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience, with a high level of detail, a positive/proactive working approach, and used to being adaptable to business needs. You will be a team player but also used to managing your own workloads and meeting deadlines. Experience with financial systems and MS Excel skills, willing to learn, along with being a key problem-solver with strong communication skills to build relationships at all levels internally/externally. Experience with Sage 50 financial system would be advantageous but not essential.
