Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading, successful & well-established FTSE 100 Group within the Engineering sector to recruit a dynamic & driven Management Accountant. Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with remote/office hybrid working & flexible working hours. The management accountant will be responsible for preparing, developing and analysing key financial information to ensure management can make well-informed decisions. The role involves management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, finance business partnering & performance analysis. This progressive role will give you the opportunity to develop across a number of skills, supporting other business areas as part of the team with development opportunities. This position is best suited to a finalist/qualified Accountant; part-qualified finance professionals will also be considered. Your new role

Your key duties will involve preparing accurate and timely monthly profit and loss management accounts, financial reports, preparing monthly journals, along with supporting monthly close meetings, variance analysis to budgets and forecasts, along with applicable KPIs. You will develop/support financial systems/models, investment appraisals, longer-term planning and scenario analysis for potential business opportunities and risks & strategic initiatives. You will support on project tracking/analysis for both capital and operational expenditure, ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, support on modelling for recharges, forecasting & budgeting preparation, along with capital expenditure reporting. You will partner internally with various finance teams with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting. You will be involved in ad-hoc projects and duties as you progress with the organisation, with the opportunity to develop your skills in various areas of finance.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this progressive Management Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, part-qualified/finalist or qualified in ACCA/CIMA/ACA with a proactive & analytical mind-set. You will have strong MS Excel skills for data analysis, the ability to prepare/interpret financial reports, budgeting/forecasting experience, with a key attention to detail. You will be an effective communicator to build both internal/external relationships at all levels with the ability to manage workloads to meet deadlines. You will be keen to learn and develop within your accounting career, with experience of a range of financial systems. Experience with financial modelling and Power BI, along with experience within a large complex group, would be advantageous but not essential.
