We are working with a well-established legal business, and they are looking for a confident and professional HR Assistant / HR Officer to join the business ASAP.

The role would be ideal for candidates who are passionate about a career in HR and have c1-2 years’ HR administration experience, who are looking to move into a generalist HR role with scope to take on more responsibility.

This is a hybrid role - 4 days office and 1 day home.

Reporting into the HR Manager and providing support to c70 employees across the full employee journey - from HR administration, recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, dealing with a range of HR queries and providing advice and guidance, policy development, employee wellbeing and assisting on HR projects.

Key duties will include;

  • Reporting into HR Manager and working as part of a team of 2; providing HR support to c70 employees across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Support with HR administration including on-boarding, off-boarding, HR systems, payroll and benefits administration, supporting with recruitment and exposure to ER cases.
  • Deal with 1st line HR queries from employees and stakeholders, maintaining the HR system and HR diary management.
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee queries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters.
  • Provide accurate, timely and consistent advice on routine HR issues
  • Monitor and record employee absences, ensuring accurate records are maintained and return to work interviews completed
  • Attend informal meetings (where appropriate) to take notes or act as HR presence
  • Identify when issues need to be escalated to HR Manager or Director
  • Assist in monthly payroll preparation, accurately inputting information onto the payroll spreadsheet
  • Process employee benefits such as enrolment into the private medical insurance scheme and cessation of benefits upon termination of employment
  • Oversee the offboarding process, including exit interviews, final paperwork, retrieval of company equipment and system updates
  • Support with all areas of recruitment, including drafting of job descriptions, job adverts & the co-ordination of interviews
  • Draft offer letters, contracts of employment, and co-ordinate pre-employment checks (e.g., references, right-work-checks, background screening)
  • Facilitate smooth onboarding experiences for new hires, including induction planning, system set up with IT, and delivering company induction
  • Assist on various HR projects, including updating and review of HR policies, contracts and handbooks etc, supporting with a new HR system implementation, employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, reward reviews etc

For this role candidates will need to have exposure within a busy HR team at this level and be passionate about a career in HR.

A confident and outgoing approach is required, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential that candidates have good attention to detail, can work autonomously and hold strong HR administration experience.
