Main Purpose of Role

To create, review, and manage the assembly production plan for designated lines, working closely with production teams to supply all demand in line with customer requirements. The role includes active involvement with new projects, calculating and managing stock levels, and supporting process design and review within the department.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • Fully understand, review, and action MRP messages with appropriate analysis of supply and demand.
  • Manage the release of sales order demand, balancing customer requirements with production capabilities.
  • Support regular Inventory Modelling (IQM) reviews, recommending optimal settings and opportunities (e.g., batch size adjustments, lead-time reductions).
  • Manage product sales lead-times, maintaining on-time delivery against both customer requests and commitments.
  • Monitor and review daily component supply, progressing shortages, and resolving issues by suggesting alternatives, reprioritising production, or identifying substitute components.
  • Create and manage assembly production plans for designated lines, working with production teams to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and update daily/weekly reports to support customer service and business performance (e.g., Orderbook Report, Demand Resource Simulator).
  • Respond to requests from other teams, including product quotes, sample/modification actions, scrap note approvals, order status updates, and revised promise dates.
  • Support New Product Introductions, continuous improvement programs, and other planning-related projects.
  • Provide detailed quotes for large order demands using production planning logic and processes.
  • Cover for colleagues during absence and support other activities as reasonably requested by the Assembly Planning Team Leader.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Relevant planning experience in a production environment.
  • Experience using MRP tools and processes.
  • Strong mathematical ability.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One or similar IT-based planning systems

Package

  • Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 per annum
  • Hours: 37.5 per week over 4.5 days (Monday – Friday, half-day Friday)
  • Bonus: 3.5% annual discretionary
  • Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays
  • Benefits: Healthcare scheme
  • Pension: 4% employee / 10% employer
