We are working in partnership with a well-established, highly regulated manufacturing business based in Chertsey, Surrey, to recruit an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, youll be a key link between the business and its external supply chain, ensuring that materials and components meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. You will work cross-functionally with Procurement, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure that suppliers are effectively managed, assessed, and continuously improved.

The successful candidate will need to bring a solid background in quality assurance within a regulated manufacturing environment, coupled with strong technical and interpersonal skills.

 

Key Responsibilities as a Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Manage supplier quality activities to ensure consistent delivery of conforming materials and components.
  • Perform supplier audits, risk assessments, and capability evaluations in line with regulatory and company standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier non-conformances (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
  • Support the onboarding and qualification of new suppliers, including documentation and approval processes.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics (KPIs), driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement supplier quality agreements and control plans.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949).
  • Support internal and external audits relating to the supply chain and supplier quality.
  • Act as a key point of contact for quality escalations involving suppliers.

 

Experience required as a Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Previous experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to conduct external supplier audits and assessments.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Engineering or Quality-related degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Lead Auditor certification (e.g., ISO 9001) would be advantageous.
