Are you looking for a new career? How about one within the Defence industry? An exciting position has arisen in Chertsey as a Project Support Engineer. This is a permanent position paying up to �55,000 per annum.

The role

As a Project Support Engineer you will be a part of the service team to provide engineering support and maintenance throughout the engineering life cycle of the product at designated customer locations, both on and off site. The role will include planning and prioritising work to ensure trouble-free procurement and ensure that installation, testing and configuration requirements are met in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and contractual requirements.

Additional to this you will:

  • Provide pre-design and production support to engineers at all levels as required.
  • Establish and work to MoD Safety and regulatory standards.
  • Assess potential risks, document mitigating actions, and communicate these to the wider team.
  • Work with electrical/electronic systems, especially within an MoD maritime domain.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the planning, assembly, and testing of manufactured items and cables in accordance with quality procedures and associated work instructions with the ability to deputise for a senior engineer when required.
  • Interpret drawings & diagrams and communicate customer expectations, resources and timescales for delivery to the wider team.
  • Carry out installation and setting to work activities of project equipment, as detailed in the project installation and test plans as and when required.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team where necessary to align project requirements to gain maximum efficiencies for the company, whilst ensuring customer service requirements can be met sometimes at short notice.
  • Attend at sea, land or air trials as required to measure, service and maintain equipment as necessary.
  • Provide timely engineering support for system integration and test activity as required.
  • Produce and/or update project/technical documentation to meet Company, MoD and other customer standards.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to customers, suppliers, project teams and colleagues.
  • Provide, maintain, and support routine cycles to ensure all quality and legal standards are met whilst helping to manage obsolescence.
  • Provide clear communication and documentation, with good oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Support the Project Manager with evidenced technical product specification documents, test information/reports and updated project schedules as required to maintain customer satisfaction.

Skills and Qualifications

  • An engineering-based qualification at a minimum of HNC-level or its equivalent.
  • Ability to question, think laterally, and monitor multiple activities at once.
  • Able to interpret CAD drawings and understand technical engineering concepts and principles.
  • Be organised, task-orientated and have good time management skills.
  • A good verbal & written communicator who is enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Ability to obtain UK security clearance.
  • A clean driving license.
