James Lewis have been approached by a key client, who are an MEP-led Principal Contractor, to help secure an MEP Commissioning Manager (ideally electrical) for a Film Studio/Data centre project near Chertsey. Focussing on critical infrastructure they work across a range of project sectors which include data centres, education, commercial, healthcare and science & technology in and around London and the SE. Their services start from design, through construction and fit out to the maintenance of the projects, effectively offering an end-to-end solution.
The role involves the management of the commissioning processes associated with MEP Services, from project inception through to installation, full testing and commissioning, proving of successful integration, demonstration, handover, sign off and training of the systems to the client and their appointed representatives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the installation, testing and troubleshooting of MEP systems
- Management of direct reports (commissioning and testing personnel on site)
- Produce design review reports highlighting additional requirements to assist commissioning
- Reporting Progress on all Commissioning activities both internally and externally
- Chairing weekly commissioning meetings and directing weekly commissioning activities
- Development of the Project commissioning schedule in conjunction with the project programme
- Responsible for the Compilation of all Testing and Commissioning Documentation including verifying and signing off on all results
- Management of sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels
- Maintain excellent client relationships
- Witnessing and issuing permits
- Ensure that records, data, and systems are maintained up to date and in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures
To be considered you will require a Relevant degree level qualification (ONC, HND or Degree Level in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services) and a proven background in Commissioning Management in mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure ideally in live critical working environments (data centres, pharmaceutical, laboratories, heavy industrial, etc.). You will also be a CSCS card holder, have your IOSH or SMSTS, along with First aid at work. There are 5 months left to run on this project as Phase 1 reaches its conclusion, so it is a critical time for the commissioning manager to come onboard. The client has a budget of up to 500/day with the option to work Ltd outside of IR35.
