Description
Duties of an Accounts Assistant:
- Support the Finance Manager in daily finance tasks as part of a small, friendly team.
- Manage customer accounts by sending invoices, chasing payments, and resolving payment issues.
- Post daily bank transactions and keep financial records up to date.
- Create and maintain customer accounts and send monthly statements.
- Handle supplier invoices and process staff expense claims using tools like Pleo and WebExpenses.
- Help with payment runs to ensure suppliers are paid on time.
- Prepare daily sales and invoicing reports for internal use.
- Assist with the annual audit by organising documents and communicating with auditors.
- Provide general admin support to keep the finance department running smoothly.
Profile
The successful Accounts Assistant should have:
- Excellent accuracy when entering and handling financial data.
- Strong team player who works well with others.
- At least 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits.
- Able to meet deadlines and manage time effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with Sage200 or similar software is helpful, but not essential.
- Confident using Excel, especially with tools like VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and SUMIF.
