The RoleWe are delighted to be supporting our client in County Durham with their search for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant in a new and varied rewarding role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a prestigious multi-entity estate.Working closely with the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance activities, and assisting with wider estate operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong bookkeeping experience, a keen eye for detail, and a collaborative attitude.Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily processing and checking of invoices across multiple entities.
  • Weekly and monthly bookkeeping to maintain an accurate accounts system.
  • Regular reconciliation of bank and inter-entity balances.
  • Support in preparing VAT returns, including Partial Exemption calculations.
  • Assistance with year-end accounts and management accounts preparation.
  • Involvement in credit control, including reviewing debtor/creditor balances and liaising with suppliers and customers.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of estate events, including hosting school visits.
  • Carrying out ad hoc tasks as required by the Financial Controller.
The PersonSkills/Attributes:
  • Experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team.
  • A flexible and professional approach, with a willingness to assist in wider estate activities.
