Responsibilities and duties of the Multi-Skilled Technician role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment across the power station.
- Prioritise electrical maintenance tasks while supporting basic mechanical activities when required.
- Diagnose, repair, and test electrical faults on motors, drives, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
- Assist during plant outages and shutdowns, ensuring safe and timely completion of maintenance work.
- Inspect and maintain electrical assets to comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Support site safety initiatives, including hazard reporting and participation in incident investigations.
- Update maintenance records and work orders accurately within the CMMS.
- Follow electrical procedures and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
- Identify and report equipment reliability issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to maintain plant availability and performance.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Holds a level 3 qualification and is apprentice trained in relevant subject
- A further engineering qualification, such as a HNC is desirable
- At least three years' experience in maintenance, in a heavy process environment/sector or similar (e.g. power station, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, steel works etc).
- Ideally an IOSH or Health & Safety Qualification
Personal skills
- Ability to carry out lone-working and self-motivated
- Has a problem-solving attitude and works efficiently
- Takes a proactive approach to prevent faults.
