The requirement
Schools in the Chester area are seeking qualified Teaching Assistants with specific experience supporting pupils with Autism and related needs. These are not general classroom support roles - they are targeted SEND positions.
Pupil needs you'll be supporting:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Sensory processing differences
- Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)
- Associated anxiety, emotional regulation, and social interaction needs
Experience with visual timetables, structured routines, and de-escalation strategies is highly valued as a Teaching Assistant - ASD.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 or small-group autism support
- Follow and contribute to EHCP-led strategies
- Support transitions, engagement, and regulation
- Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Maintain a calm, predictable learning environment
Essential criteria:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Proven ASD/SEND experience in a school or specialist setting
- Confident understanding of autism-friendly practice
- Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach
