We’re looking for Project Engineer, to be based at our Capenhurst site. Your role will be to ensure project requirements or aspects of project requirements are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standard, whilst building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Its remit stretches through supplier selection and evaluation, to direct delivery of engineering/design scope for selected projects.
The Project Engineer combines a solid generalist understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines, enabling the role to deliver integrated design solutions and to oversee engineering at project level of low to moderate complexity.

What you’ll do: (4-6 bullet pointed list of key responsibilities)

• The Project Engineer will manage all of the requirements and technical activities for a given project or project scope, aiming at assuring project accuracy, quality and cost control from conception to completion. The Project Engineer may be assigned to one project, or a number of packages of work that form part of a large project of strategic importance.
• Ensures design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications and legislation
• Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems
• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
• Prepare basis of estimates for changes and work as part of the project team to ensure that these are coordinated and delivered on time
• Ensures co-ordination between all aspects of engineering, design work construction and manufacturing for delivery on site
• Ensures that design and construction reviews, are carried out in accordance with Urenco and customer procedures
• Work in conjunction with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure adequate resources, in terms of quality and quantity are available to ensure efficient and timely execution of construction activities in line with the schedule
• Ensure that the technical team and any 3rd party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan provided by the project manager throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work in conjunction with the project team to ensure that engineering activities are prepared in advance to meet the plan and budget requirements, managing interfaces with external stakeholders.

What do you need to thrive in this role?

• A suitable academic engineering qualification
• A project management qualification such as API/PMI desirable, but not essential, but should have knowledge of effective project management techniques.
• Several years’ experience working across varied projects and being involved in full project lifecycles
• Project engineering experience in a multi-disciplined team environment
• Experience of managing contractual relationships including the provision of free-issue materials, technology or IP and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing suppliers to deliver within this context
• Proven track record in managing contract delivery, protecting the owner’s contractual position at all times and preventing the likelihood of claims
• Setting standards for documentation management, knowledge management and administration which ensures suppliers meet their contractual obligations, and Urenco interests are fully protected throughout the contract lifecycle
• Experience gained from highly regulated sector
