We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and creative Food and Nutrition Teacher to join our secondary school team in Chester. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop essential life skills, a strong understanding of nutrition, and a passion for food technology. You will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students to achieve their full potential in both practical and theoretical elements of the subject.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Food and Nutrition, following the national curriculum.

  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, including practical assessments and written exams.

  • Manage a well-equipped food technology room, ensuring all health and safety regulations are met.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and differentiated support.

  • Encourage creativity, independence, and teamwork in practical cooking activities.

  • Promote healthy eating, sustainability, and food awareness across the school community.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular activities related to food and wellbeing.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider community to support student learning.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Technology, or a related field

  • Experience teaching Food and Nutrition at KS3 and KS4

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • A passion for teaching and inspiring young people

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with GCSE or vocational food qualifications

  • First aid and food hygiene certification

  • Knowledge of current trends in food education and health promotion

  • Ability to run or support extra-curricular cooking clubs or enrichment activities
