Approach Personnel are proud to be working in partnership with a reputable new build housing developer who are looking for an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team in their Northern Derbyshire branch.

Day to Day:

  • Assess and assemble new land opportunities by producing fully costed appraisals using detailed technical drawings for accurate measurement take-offs.
  • Prepare comprehensive budget cost appraisals to evaluate project viability prior to land acquisition or bid submission.
  • Accurately extract quantities from technical drawings and compile them into clear, concise budget estimates.
  • Collaborate effectively with Land, Technical, and Sales teams to gain in-depth understanding of new developments and ensure accurate, informed appraisals.
  • Generate precise build cost estimates for inclusion in financial appraisals.
  • Maintain and update build cost data and related tracking systems to ensure current and accurate records.
  • Conduct detailed take-offs and measurements to develop cost budgets for infrastructure works such as roads, sewers, enabling works, and site setup, working closely with the technical team.
  • Ensure accurate calculation periods are applied for both construction timelines and projected sales revenues.
  • Conduct site visits as required to identify potential constraints and gain a clearer understanding of the site's characteristics prior to completing appraisals.

About You

  • Either HNC, ONC, HND or equivalent in relevant field. Experience in lieu of qualifications will be considered
  • Experience in the construction industry, preferrably for a housing developer
  • Ability to understand technical data, drawings, and reports
  • Understanding of architectural drawings and designs
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with multiple teams across the business
