Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a successful retail and wholesale business in Chesterfield as they look to bring a new Financial Controller into the business. The vacancy has come about due to a recent retirement and will work as part of a friendly and supportive team.Ā 

This is a key post within the Finance team and the position reports directly into Head of Finance and will be required to undertake effective management of the day to day operations of the management accounting team. The Financial Controller will also deputise for the Director of Finance & Controlling.

They offer 25 days holiday + stats, bonus scheme and hybrid working. Salary is dependent on experience.Ā 

Duties will include: -Ā 

  • Control the month end processes for all companies & overall responsibility for balance sheets
  • Preparation of full management accounts for review with Head of Finance & collaboration with Controlling on production of UK financial reporting
  • Production & reporting of financial results to parent subsidiary controller including dealing with all queries
  • Responsibility for treasury management including group & local reporting, forecasting & stress testing
  • Liaising with AP/AR Controller & other key personnel to update forecast positions & reporting
  • Collaboration with Controlling on analysing key cost lines
  • Responsibility for the completion of the annual statutory audit process & production of the statutory accounts
  • Responsibility for compliance surrounding all taxes the business is liable for
  • Participation in budgeting process along with Head of Finance to produce full annual budgets/ Forecasts & strategic plans
  • Ensuring that the control environment is robust & efficient, working with Director of Finance & Controlling to ensure processes are relevant & reliable
  • To ensure all accounting policies are documented & in line with current UK GAAP accounting standards & are commercially astute
  • Responsibility as a key user for SAP Finance, participating in testing of changes in the system environment
  • Responsibility to authorize payments, expenses, credit cards & invoices to limit of authority
  • Fixed Assets Overview & Management
  • To manage, coach & mentor the management accounting team, allowing them to develop as part of the team

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences: -Ā 

  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified
  • A good understanding of the UK regulatory environment & UK GAAP
  • A good understanding of UK tax specifically corporation tax & VAT
  • Advanced Excel skills & the ability to manipulate large volumes of data
  • A basic understanding of treasury functions
  • A good understanding of budgeting
  • Extensive previous experience in management accounting/ Financial Accounting roles
  • Previous experience in dealing with auditorsĀ 
  • Previous experience in business partnering with non-finance personnel
  • Not afraid to ā€œget stuck inā€ and be a team player
  • Ability to take ownership of financial reporting & processes to get behind improvements
  • Capable of being a mentor to the members of the Finance team
