Sewell Wallis is recruiting for a Group Accountant for a Public Sector organisation in Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, for a 6-month interim contract, looking to start ASAP.

This Group Accountant role will be focusing on Financial Management, overseeing a team of 4 whilst leading on the development, implementation and maintenance of the financial processes and models to provide financial information and assist with financial planning and decision making.

What will you be doing?

  • Monthly forecasting, including the monitoring of delivery of savings, income projections and reserves.
  • Collection fund accounting.
  • Financial Planning, development and implementation of effective budget processes.
  • Support the delivery of financial training and advice to non-financial staff.
  • Ensure that all financial activities comply with statutory requirements and accounting standards.
  • The Group Accountant will develop and maintain financial systems with data integrity, supporting the design of effective quality financial information.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Qualified Accountant - either ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Public sector industry experience
  • Experience working in a Group structure
  • Team management experience, ideally a team of 2+
  • The ability to travel to Chesterfield for a 6 month period.
