Acoustic Consultant (Intermediate to Senior) - East Midlands

A well-established UK-based Environmental and Acoustic Consultancy is seeking an Acoustic Consultant at intermediate to senior level to join their expanding team in the East Midlands (Chesterfield). This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced consultant ready to take on more responsibility and relocate to a growing regional hub for acoustic expertise.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree-qualified in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering or a closely related field.

  • 1-5 years' experience in a UK-based acoustic consultancy.

  • Strong technical knowledge in environmental and/or building acoustics.

  • Proficient in using noise modelling software such as CadnaA or SoundPLAN.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to be office-based in the East Midlands.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience managing projects independently and liaising with clients.

  • Ability to contribute to business development or support junior colleagues.

  • Chartered status or working towards it (e.g., MIOA).

  • Familiarity with BS4142, BS8233, WHO guidelines, and national planning frameworks.

The Role:
You will support and lead a variety of acoustics projects across environmental impact assessments, noise surveys, and building acoustics design. The role offers significant autonomy, technical variety, and progression opportunities within a collaborative, close-knit team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering and managing acoustic assessments from start to finish.

  • Leading site visits, noise monitoring, and data analysis.

  • Writing detailed technical reports for planning and design purposes.

  • Engaging with clients, local authorities, and multi-disciplinary project teams.

  • Contributing to internal training and mentoring of junior consultants.
